How long did you work there before becoming a manager? Have you been a manager elsewhere?

It is unprofessional for me to discuss my salary on my blog to anonymous people. I'm currently unemployed and have been desperately searching for a job for months on end. I already don't feel worthy of anything, and not being able to be hired sets me back even more. What can I do to make people hiring want to give me a chance to work for them? I can't cope with this much longer :(

Are you dressing appropriately for the jobs you are applying for? Are you confident and bubbly when you approach the manager to hand in your résumé? Also it’s important to hand it straight to the manager as casuals more often than not will just put it in a pile/ or even in the bin before the manager sees it. Are you ringing the places you handed your résumé into and expressing how keen you are for the job and reminding the manager to take the time to review your application. Don’t give up! Stay positive (i know it gets disheartening, trust me ive been unemployed too for a few months) You will get the right one eventually :)

It does help thank you a heap! I've had a whole lot of retail jobs and unpaid work experience, but haven't been working for the last 6 months due to starting uni, and not being able to work is slowly driving me insane so I'm looking to get back into the clothing retail side of things, so I'm curious as to if a 3yr (from casual to part time to semi management) position in a grocery store (front end, dealin' with all the customers) would be of any worth to someone who deals with the hiring side?

Yes it shows that you can stick it out in a job for an extended period of time! Of course having glowing references gives you an upper hand also. Clothing retail is obviously a lot different but it’s still good that you have got retail experience, there is nothing worse than when someone who has only worked at McDonald or in hospitality tells me ‘it’s basically the same’ as working in retail, I’m like um, no. But just be persistent and keep showing interest in the role you are applying for with enthusiasm :)

I would highly recommend trilogy. In both their resume, and themselves as a person (:

To employ specifically at my work? As much as it sucks to say, Image and immaculate personal presentation is really important. Quirky, fun, and creating your own style is a must when working in fashion retail because you are a walking mannequin for the shop. So the first thing I look at is how someone presents themself when they hand their resume to me so dress to impress, because if they cant be bothered to put in effort for a first impression, what does that say about their integrity?..not much. Confidence is just as important and also someone who seems friendly, approachable and polite. As for resume wise its always an advantage to have already had retail experience and preferably long term, when someone has worked at a handful of different jobs for 3 month periods it looks very average to an employer. Also dont write a ‘hobbies’ section especially if its full with irrelevant past times, employers dont care if you like hanging out with friends, playing chess and going to the beach (you have no idea how many people do this! haha) Also an ‘award and achievement section’ dont fill it with things like ‘40 hour famine participant 2001’ and ‘First place winner for cross country in year 6’ etc, just dont !! Keep it short, sweet and relevant and dont choose a fancy font, it looks tacky! Simplicity is the key, I hope this helps! x

If Aesop doesn't work for you I suggest you check out Alpha-H (cruelty free) or Trilogy (cruelty free) they are both great skincare products, alot cheaper than Aesop as you seem to pay alot for the packaging, and are more about individual skin, unlike Aesop which is not particularly great for sensitive skins as they use alot of botanicals that dry skin out (if you are sensitive). If you are breaking out I would suggest not using coconut oil on your face too often either.

Thankyou for this! Unusual question maybe. And I'm sure it probably will sound stupid. But I just can't like juices because of their suuuper thick consistency, if that makes sense?
